I’ve completely fallen for the range of textiles at L’Aviva Home. Representing techniques and crafts from all over the world, each piece seems to tell a story. Indeed, many of the items are vintage.
The bedspread above is, of course, a Moroccan wedding blanket. Perfect for sparkly neutral types like me! I’m also hankering for one of these Mexican bedspreads, which come in turquoise, crimson, plum, terracotta and gray as well as this indigo.

These are Bolivian Aguayos, used by women in the Andean region to carry babies and personal items.

There are also beautiful organic cotton Turkish Hammam towels.

And vintage Suzanis from Uzbekistan – in several different colors.

These aren’t exactly cheap, but that doesn’t stop me wishing…

Is that Moroccon wedding blanket comfortable to lay on top of, do you know? Or does it scratch?

Good question! I’m not sure, actually. I’ve never owned one. It looks kind of soft, but it has sequins on it so I’m sure it’s not great for sleeping on top of! Best as a throw or for the foot of the bed, should think.

FROM THE RIGHT BANK
Lucy, could you possibly pick one more item that I absolutely love?? Seriously! I have an Uzbek suzani and Turkish hammam towels – both of which I adore. And I’ve been coveting one of those Oaxacan coverlets and Moroccan wedding blankets forever. It’s amazing how popular all of these things have become lately, isn’t it?

What a fantastic company! – Liberty (in london) have upholstered little stools in the wedding blankets and they look great! – might snag your tights though. There’s nothing I love more than a new ethnic textile discovery. I get far too excited!

I miss Liberty’s! I must check out those stools when I next go to London. They sound great. Thanks for the tip.

I’m the silver and white girl – who would just love to throw a wildly bright suzani into the mix.

I know the feeling! I’d like to think I can do wild colors, but I often chicken out…
